Vespa front rim wheel bolts rusted or stripped?
These wheel bolts are often rusted, loosened with the wrong tools, or tightened so tightly that they won't come off. Replace them in time, because if you can't loosen them, you'll have a big problem! You'll need to remove the front wheel every now and then, for example, to change the tire or brake pads.
How do you prevent Allen bolts from breaking or rusting?
Always use a stainless steel washer between the bolt to prevent it from rusting and to distribute the tightening pressure. This will make it easier to loosen. Also, apply a small amount of copper grease to the bolt threads to prevent them from rusting.
Always use the correct tools. First, use a ratchet or similar tool with a 6 mm Allen key, then an impact wrench or other tool. Otherwise, you risk stripping the Allen head. Insert your Allen bit as far as possible into the bolt and hold it straight up as you loosen it. Left = loose, right = tight.
