Installing a Piaggio Zip headlight

How do you install an LED headlight in the Piaggio Zip? Installing this LED headlight is very simple. You simply need to remove the inner handlebar cover and screw the headlight into the socket. First, remove the original headlight and its socket from the headlight unit. Do this by turning the socket a quarter turn to the left. Now remove the original bulb from the socket. Do this by pushing the bulb in slightly and then turning it a quarter turn to the left. Then install the LED headlight into the socket by pushing it in slightly and turning it clockwise. The headlight can only be installed in the socket one way. It's important that the two clamps on the back of the socket are properly seated against the bulb. You can tighten the clamps a little with pliers so they fit snugly against the contact points on the headlight. Insert the new headlight into the headlight unit and turn the socket a quarter turn to the right to click it into place.

Adjusting the Piaggio Zip headlight

After installing the LED headlight in your Piaggio Zip, you still need to adjust it to the road. This is important to ensure you don't blind oncoming traffic and that you can see the road clearly. You can adjust the Zip's headlight at the front of the scooter. There's a small screw underneath the headlight lens. Use a flathead screwdriver to turn this screw inward to adjust the light downward. First, turn it all the way in to the right, then turn the screw a few turns back to the left. Check in the dark that the road is clear and adjust the headlight if necessary.

The lamp is plug & play, so you don't have to make any adjustments to your wiring harness or electrical system.

• Push the old bulb in and then turn it a quarter turn to the left.
• Push the new LED headlight into the socket and turn it a quarter turn clockwise to secure it.
• Check that the fitting's irons are tight against the headlight; this is important!
• Adjust the LED headlight for clear visibility. This is done using the adjusting screw at the front (in the handlebar cover) below the headlight. You can use a flathead screwdriver to direct the light further downward.

Addition to the installation:
If the metal contacts on the socket aren't pressed tightly enough against the bulb, the lamp won't function optimally. The bulb won't make good contact with the electricity and may not function properly, or even fail to light. Therefore, make sure you adjust the metal contacts with pliers so they're pressed firmly against the bulb.
