About the Castrol 2T oil

Castrol Power RS 2T responds to the changes in engine temperature that often occur in high-performance two-stroke engines, providing extra protection when needed. Castrol Power RS 2T ensures maximum and long-lasting performance even at full throttle and high engine speeds. It also provides unsurpassed protection under high thermal and mechanical loads. High-performance two-stroke engines require a high-performance oil that offers protection at the highest speeds, loads, and temperatures. Castrol Power RS 2T outperforms comparable oils when exposed to these high speeds, loads, and temperatures.

Why top up the oil on a 2-stroke scooter?

Unlike a 4-stroke scooter, a 2-stroke scooter's oil is mixed with regular fuel (gasoline). The oil lubricates and cools the engine, preventing significant wear and tear. If you ride without oil, the piston and cylinder often overheat due to insufficient lubricant. This results in seizure. The piston seizes in the cylinder, and both cylinders must be replaced. This is an expensive repair (expect to cost a few hundred euros!), but one that can easily be prevented by topping up your oil in time!

When should you change the oil?

With a 2-stroke scooter, you don't need to change the oil every 3,000 km or 12 months, but you do need to top it up regularly to ensure there's always enough oil in the scooter. With a 4-stroke, the oil remains in a closed circuit and doesn't consume any oil. With a 2-stroke, the oil is mixed with gasoline, which does consume some of it and therefore requires regular top-ups.

The older the scooter, the more often you usually need to top up the oil. The average oil ratio is 1 liter of oil to 50 liters of fuel. Still haven't run out of oil? It's still wise to top it up occasionally. Too much oil isn't harmful, but too little is! Also, keep in mind that your dashboard warning light might be broken, so you won't receive a warning when the oil is low.

Do you have a scooter where you have to mix the oil with the gasoline yourself? Then you usually use a 1:50 ratio. Measure this carefully, because either too much or too little oil in the fuel is bad for your scooter.

Don't buy cheap motor oil

Don't use cheap imitation products or B-quality parts. We therefore advise against buying 2-stroke engine oil from Lidl, Action, or other store brands. Cheap is expensive!

Using original and premium parts costs a few euros more, but it can significantly extend the lifespan of your scooter. Furthermore, there's a risk that cheap parts will damage your scooter. Original or premium parts are of better quality and ensure better performance. The purpose of 2-stroke oil is to lubricate and cool the engine. This is especially important for 2-stroke engines, because they rev high and travel at high speeds. Castrol Power RS has been tested as one of the best engine oils on the market. So you're definitely in good hands!
