Spark plug NGK CR8EB for Piaggio Zip and Fly, Vespa Sprint, Primavera, LX and S.

Are you going to perform maintenance on your scooter? Then it is important to also replace the spark plug of your scooter. Without a working spark plug, a scooter cannot drive. The spark plug gives sparks, which ensure combustion. In addition, old spark plugs can sometimes rust. That is why it is important to replace the spark plug in time. This is usually done during a minor and major maintenance service.

Don't forget to order this correct spark plug wrench! Universal spark plug wrenches almost never fit the Vespa and Piaggio scooters, because it is in a difficult place!

If you are going to replace the spark plug of your Piaggio Zip or Vespa, then mount the original spark plug of NGK CR8EB. This spark plug has the highest quality on the market and is used by almost every scooter shop in the Netherlands. This is also the standard spark plug that Piaggio and Vespa mounts in the scooter.

How do you replace the spark plug on a scooter?

Removing and installing a spark plug on a Piaggio Zip, Vespa LX, Sprint or Primavera is very simple. All you need is a spark plug wrench. Fortunately, this is (normally) standard in the tool bag under the buddy seat. You place the 4-stroke spark plug wrench on the spark plug and then you can unscrew it to the left with a socket wrench, which is also in the tool bag.

The new CR8EB spark plug is mounted in the same way. Be careful not to screw it crooked in the cylinder, so first try to tighten the spark plug as far as possible by hand. Then tighten it with the spark plug wrench, note; tight = tight!

Which scooter does the NGK spark plug CR8EB fit?

The CR8EB spark plug from NGK is suitable for the following scooters:

  • Piaggio Zip (4t 2v)
  • Piaggio Fly (4t 2v)
  • Piaggio New Fly (4t 2v)
  • Vespa LX (4t 2v)
  • Vespa LXV (4t 2v)
  • Vespa S (4t 2v)
  • Vespa Primavera (4t 2v)
  • Vespa Sprint (4t 2v)

The CR8EB spark plug can only be used on 4-stroke scooters. 2-stroke Piaggio and Vespa scooters have a spark plug with the size BPR8ES.
The spark plug can be used on 25km and 45km variants, it makes no difference.

What is 4t 2v?

4t stands for 4-stroke, a scooter that runs on petrol (2-stroke runs on mixed lubrication, petrol and oil combined). 2v stands for the number of valves, so 2 valves. In principle, all carburettor scooters have a 2v engine block.

The spark plug does not fit on new Piaggio Zip and Vespa injection scooters. These are the so-called i-get variants Euro4 and Euro5. These scooters have 3 or 4 valves.

What color should the spark plug be?

On a 4-stroke scooter the spark plug should always be grey. So you can't tell from the spark plug whether the scooter is properly adjusted.
This is possible with a 2-stroke scooter. Then the colour should be coffee brown. A white spark plug means a mixture that is too lean/little. And a black spark plug means a mixture that is too rich/much. You can adjust this with a jet.
