Are your crankcase bolts rusty, ugly, broken or are you missing a few?
Replace your crankcase bolts with 10 new, fresh crankcase bolts. Cheap and easy to install. You don't have to leave it for the money, because those few euros are well worth it.
3 models in stock:
-
Original Piaggio B016792
- Silver galvanized
- Black (very dark brown), galvanized
- Stainless steel (stainless steel)
The original crankcase bolt is also galvanized. This is a thin layer of zinc over the crankcase bolt. This is to protect against corrosion and rust. This is a lot cheaper than stainless steel, since the entire bolt is made of stainless steel. In principle, all the above crankcase bolts can withstand corrosion/rust, but stainless steel is the most reliable and best choice in the long term. If you go for cheap, that is also fine and it can do no harm. Check the crankcase bolts every few months/years to see how they are doing. They have to endure a lot because they are close to the rear wheel. Think of sand, water and salt.
All these alternative models have a larger head than the original crankcase bolt, namely for a 10 cap instead of an 8 cap. And have serrations on the flange, so that they remain secure and are less likely to turn through. We recommend that you mount stainless steel rings between the crankcase bolts, so that the paint of the crankcase cover is not damaged. This will also make the bolts less likely to turn through.
Make sure you always have 10 crankcase bolts in your crankcase cover
The mounting of new bolts in the crankcase cover is important . If you do not re-mount bolts, dirt and rust will get into the thread. In addition, it is of course unprofessional, since it is clearly visible. Also, your crankcase bolt is not attached with 10 bolts for nothing. If the cover was properly attached with 5 bolts, they would have designed it with 5 bolts. Don't you think?
The crankcase bolts for the crankcase cover can be ordered cheaply from De Scooter Shop and are available from stock.
Tip! Lubricate all crankcase bolts with copper grease to prevent the bolts from rusting. This will make them easier to loosen next time.
We have recorded a special installation video to show you how to remove the safety bolts from the crankcase cover! Watch the video below.
