Spark plug NGK CR8EB for Piaggio Zip and Vespa 4T 2V
NGK CR8EB spark plug for Piaggio/Vespa 4T 2V (Zip, Fly, Sprint, Primavera, LX and S)
Are you going to do maintenance on your scooter? Then it's important to replace the spark plug. Without a working spark plug, a scooter can't run. The spark plug creates sparks, which ensure combustion. In addition, old spark plugs can sometimes become stuck. That's why it's important to replace the spark plug on time. This is usually done during minor and major maintenance checks.
Don't forget to order the correct spark plug wrench! Universal spark plug wrenches almost never fit Vespa and Piaggio scooters because they're in an awkward spot!
If you're replacing the spark plug in your Piaggio Zip or Vespa, install the original NGK CR8EB spark plug. This spark plug is the highest quality on the market and is used by almost every scooter shop in the Netherlands. It's also the standard spark plug used by Piaggio and Vespa scooters.
How do you replace a spark plug on a scooter?
Removing and installing a spark plug on a Piaggio Zip, Vespa LX, Sprint, or Primavera is very simple. All you need is a spark plug wrench. Fortunately, this is (usually) always in the tool pouch under the seat. The 4-stroke spark plug wrench is placed on the spark plug and then you can turn it counterclockwise with a socket wrench, which is also in the tool pouch.
Install the new CR8EB spark plug in the same way. Be careful not to screw it in the cylinder at an angle, so try tightening it as far as possible by hand first. Then tighten it with the spark plug wrench. Remember: tight is tight!
Which scooter does the NGK spark plug CR8EB fit?
The NGK CR8EB spark plug is suitable for the following scooters:
- Piaggio Zip (4t 2v)
- Piaggio Fly (4t 2v)
- Piaggio New Fly (4t 2v)
- Vespa LX (4t 2v)
- Vespa LXV (4t 2v)
- Vespa S (4t 2v)
- Vespa Primavera (4t 2v)
- Vespa Sprint (4t 2v)
The CR8EB spark plug is only suitable for 4-stroke scooters. 2-stroke Piaggio and Vespa scooters require a BPR8ES spark plug.
The spark plug can be used on 25km and 45km variants, it makes no difference.
What is 4t 2v?
4t stands for 4-stroke, a scooter that runs on gasoline (2-stroke runs on mixed lubrication, gasoline and oil combined). 2v stands for the number of valves, so 2 valves. In principle, all carburetor scooters have a 2v engine.
The spark plug does not fit new Piaggio Zip and Vespa fuel-injected scooters. These are the so-called i-get Euro 4 and Euro 5 variants. These scooters have 3 or 4 valves.
What color should the spark plug be?
On a 4-stroke scooter, the spark plug should always be gray. Therefore, you can't tell from the spark plug whether the scooter is properly tuned.
This is possible with a 2-stroke scooter. The color should be coffee brown. A white spark plug indicates a mixture that's too lean/poor. A black spark plug indicates a mixture that's too rich/too much. You can adjust this with a jet.
