Mounting Piaggio Zip headlight

How do you mount an LED headlight in the Piaggio Zip? Mounting this LED headlight is very simple. You only need to remove the inner handlebar cover and turn the headlight into the socket. First remove the original headlight with the socket from the headlight unit. You do this by turning the socket a quarter turn to the left. Now remove the original bulb from the socket. You do this by pressing the bulb in slightly and then turning it a quarter turn to the left. Then mount the LED headlight in the socket by pushing it in slightly and turning it to the right. The headlight can only go into the socket in one way. It is important that the two irons on the back of the socket are properly against the bulb. You can tighten the irons a little with pliers, so that they are properly against the contact points of the headlight. Place the new headlight in the headlight unit and turn the socket a quarter turn to the right to click it into place.

Adjusting the Piaggio Zip headlight

After you have installed the LED headlight in the Piaggio Zip, you still need to adjust the headlight to the road. You do this so that you do not blind oncoming traffic and so that you can see the road well yourself. You can adjust the headlight of the Zip at the front of the scooter. There is a small screw under the headlight glass. You can turn this screw inwards with a flathead screwdriver to adjust the lamp downwards. First turn it all the way in to the right and then turn the screw a few turns back to the left. Check in the dark whether the view of the road is good and adjust the headlight better if necessary.

The lamp is plug & play, so you don't have to adjust anything to your wiring harness or electrical system.

• Push the old bulb in and then turn it a quarter turn to the left.
• Push the new LED headlight into the socket and turn it a quarter turn clockwise to secure it.
• Check that the irons of the fitting are tight against the headlight, this is important!
• Adjust the LED lamp for a good view of the road, you do this with the adjusting screw at the front (in the handlebar cover) under the headlight. With a flathead screwdriver you can let the lamp shine further down.

Addition to the assembly:
If the iron contact points of the fitting are not tight enough against the bulb, the bulb will not work optimally. The bulb does not make good contact with the electricity and can therefore not work fully or sometimes not burn. So make sure that you adjust the irons with pliers so that they press well against the bulb.
