About the Castrol 2T oil
Castrol Power RS 2T responds to changes in engine temperature that often occur in high-powered two-stroke engines. As a result, this oil provides extra protection when needed. Castrol Power RS 2T ensures maximum and long-lasting performance even at full throttle and high engine speeds. In addition, this oil provides unsurpassed protection under high thermal and mechanical loads. High-powered two-stroke engines require a high-performance oil that provides protection at the highest speeds, loads and temperatures. Castrol Power RS 2T outperforms comparable oils when exposed to these high speeds, loads and temperatures.
Why top up the oil on a 2-stroke scooter?
Unlike a 4-stroke scooter, a 2-stroke scooter mixes the oil with regular fuel (petrol). The oil ensures that the engine block is lubricated and cooled and thus prevents a lot of wear. If you ride without oil, the piston and cylinder often become too hot because there is insufficient lubricant. This results in a seizure. The piston gets stuck in the cylinder and both have to be replaced. An expensive repair (count on a few hundred euros!), which can be prevented very easily, namely by topping up your oil in time!
When should you change the oil?
With a 2-stroke scooter, you do not have to change the oil every 3,000 km or 12 months, but you have to constantly top up the oil so that there is always enough oil in the scooter. With a 4-stroke, the oil remains in a closed circuit and no oil is consumed. With a 2-stroke, the oil is mixed with the petrol, which means that it is consumed and therefore has to be topped up regularly.
The older the scooter, the more often you usually have to top up the oil. On average, the mixing ratio is 1 liter of oil to 50 liters of fuel. Is your oil not finished yet? Then it is still wise to top up the oil every now and then. Too much oil is not harmful, too little is! Also remember that your dashboard light may be broken, which means you will not receive a message when the oil is finished.
Do you have a scooter where you have to mix the oil with the petrol yourself? Then you usually keep 1 to 50 as a mixing ratio. Measure this well, because both too much and too little oil in the fuel is not good for the scooter.
Don't buy cheap motor oil
Do not use cheap imitation products or B-quality parts. Our advice is therefore not to buy 2-stroke engine oil from Lidl, Action or other house brands. Cheap = expensive!
Using original and A-quality parts costs a few euros extra, but can extend the life of your scooter considerably. In addition, there is a chance that cheap parts will damage your scooter. Original or A-quality parts are of better quality and ensure better performance. The purpose of the 2T oil is to lubricate and cool the block. This is especially important for 2-stroke engines, because they make a lot of revolutions and travel at high speeds. The Castrol Power RS has been tested as one of the best engine oils on the market. So you are definitely in good hands with this!
