Fuel tap for in the tank with M16 nut China / GY6 scooters

Is your scooter leaking petrol, is the petrol tap broken or is your carburettor not getting any petrol at all? Then replace the petrol tap. This petrol tap is not only the passage of petrol (from the tank to the carburettor). But also functions as a vacuum pump. There is a hose on the manifold that also goes to this pump. This ensures that petrol is sucked in as soon as the scooter is started or kicked.

No petrol, no working scooter. So it is an important part. And if your scooter leaks petrol, replacing this part is cheaper than losing the tank contents... Especially with the current petrol prices!

Replacing the fuel pump on your scooter

  1. You can easily replace this fuel tap yourself. Make sure the tank is as empty as possible beforehand. For example, by driving it empty or catching the petrol in a bucket.
  2. Remove the hoses from the faucet. This is the best way to get to them.
  3. Now turn the nut counterclockwise, so that you unscrew the tap from the tank. When this is loose, there may still be petrol leaking out. So keep a bucket or cloth at hand.
  4. Install the new fuel tap in your tank and it is best to also install new fuel hoses and vacuum hose at the same time. Ordering both 1M is already sufficient.
  5. Also replace the fuel filter at the same time, since that also gets dirty and bad at some point. And for what it costs I would do it right the first time.
