This 12V 8A battery is suitable for the Piaggio Zip 4-stroke carburetor version, among others. This is the "older" model with a kickstart. This battery is not suitable for fuel-injected/iGET scooters.

Why replace your scooter battery?

The battery is one of the most important components of a scooter. Nine times out of ten, when a scooter has trouble starting, it's the battery that's to blame.

A battery needs to be charged regularly. Charging happens automatically when you ride your scooter. If you haven't ridden your scooter for a while, or if it's been very cold, the battery might be so low that it doesn't have enough power to start the scooter. Usually, the battery is so low that it can no longer be charged. The battery is then considered "dead." In that case, you need to install a new battery in your scooter. Fortunately, that's very easy and inexpensive! It's also recommended to replace the battery if you notice it has little power or is draining quickly.

How do you install a new battery in a Piaggio Zip?

  • Open the buddy seat.
  • Remove the battery cover (behind the buddy box using 2 screws).
  • Remove the two screws from the old battery and remove the battery from the scooter. Make sure the positive and negative wires don't touch each other.
  • Place the new battery back in the same place and connect the positive and negative wires (black to the negative - and red to the positive +).
  • Test whether the scooter turns on.
  • Replace the battery cover and close the buddy seat.
